Congratulations, Shirley Chisholm!

NOW member Shirley Chisholm became the first Black woman elected to the House of Representatives.

After the 1968 elections, 10 women were serving in the House and one in the Senate; the 1968 Census indicated that women were 53.3% of the population of the United States. Stand with NOW to work towards equal representation of the sexes in the government!
