Colorado, North Carolina and California, first states to liberalize abortion laws

Colorado, North Carolina and California became the first states to liberalize their abortion laws, authorizing abortion when a pregnancy resulted from rape, incest, endangered a woman’s physical or mental health, or was likely to result in the birth of a child with severe mental or physical defects. The authorization provides that the abortion must occur in a licensed hospital and only after a panel of three doctors unanimously approved the procedure.

NOW stands for the complete repeal of all abortion laws, but acknowledges this step toward liberalizing laws. We are making progress!
